Just glad it worked. They couldn't touch, or anything, but they were able to talk to each other. 's what mattered.
[ he'll go over to the planters and get right to that! chamomile and peppermint... right. that's easy to identify. while he's working, he tilts his head. ]
He had some interesting stuff to say, too. Like... apparently the big thing's that we can't get too complacent with this place, and neither can the Residents. He said that the adventure we went on the first week - or, well, he and I went on, anyway - was pretty relevant to us all, too.
The idea of taking risks to grow, instead of safety without change.
[ vax frowns thoughtfully down at the chamomile plants, thinking. ]
... That kept happening. We were in this strange castle, and the whole place was trying to convince us it wasn't worth escaping. That we needed to stay there, or stay behind, because it was safer. When we broke free of it, we -
[ a pause, here, just minute, as the memories of his trip come crashing back in full clarity. vex'ahlia.
... ] - ... it punished us to all hell. 's for sure. Made us see shit. We kept going.
I thought that the refracted were like the versions of people we saw there. Percy - when he attacked me in that place, he was crying color, a bunch of it, and his eyes were red and wrong. Every time I hear the refracted talk about it, it reminds me of it.
Mhm. I've... been trying, with Bass and Riff, to help them out.
[ he shifts a little, clipping another sprig to hand to jiuqing. ]
... Atsushi said we've gotta find a way to disrupt things here that aren't killing. Maybe destroying stuff, making it anew in our image. [ a little huff. ] That was Chang Geng's idea, according to Soosh.
[she takes the sprig and organizes it with the other herbs, then moves to clip a sprig of something else closer to her.]
That makes a certain amount of sense. If we destroy things and don't replace them, the prism will. And if it's reacting to the destruction, then - that would likely be something unpleasant... but if we remake it with things we want, with better things, perhaps that would make the difference.
I'm sure Sir Chang wouldn't have suggested it if he had any reason to think it would be detrimental to us to try.

[she gestures over to the planters those two are at. ...and then she smiles.]
I'm glad to hear it worked - it was really very good of you to do that for her, Vax.

[hmm. she keeps her hands busy with the plants while she thinks that over.]
Did he say in what way it was?

[before the first death... though who's to say whether kazuma was refracting or not at that point.
he certainly was that night.]
I wonder if it was meant to be some kind of - of warning, of what was to come.

[ the noise is thoughtful and agreeing, vax's brow furrows. ]
Possible.
...Whatever it is, we gotta make sure everybody's on their way out. Residents included.

We'll see ourselves through this, and them, as well.

anyway. ] That's what I'm thinking too, doc. [ that gets a little bit of a smile. ] Chang Geng's a smart guy.
...All the places we got this week are really fucking weird. Maybe we can feed color into one of them and try to fix it, yeah? Me and you could try.

[it sure is nice to say "he is" and not "he was"! wow.]
...that's a good idea. I'd be glad to try it whenever you would like to, Vax.

but, he gives her a grin. ] Good. Think we've gotta fuck this shit up a little bit the way we want to.

they are mainly medicinal herbs i'm sorry to say. there are some chrysanthemums but she's sending them over thinking they'll be used for tea.
anyway, she grins back at him.]
I'm pretty done with letting the prism have its way.
